It was apparent that the WWE was preparing to fully sweep the Lars Sullivan racist comments controversy under the rug by staying silent. As for Lars himself .. he likely believed a bullsh*t issued statement would be enough.
But the WWE forgot this is 2019, not 1989 and all it took was for someone to type an e-mail to one of their biggest sponsors. Mars Wrigley Confectionery made it clear in their response that they were fully aware of what Lars did. Also the only color that the WWE cares about is green and when a multi billion dollar company, calls and asks what are you going to do about a racist on the roster, you have no choice but to immediately address the situation.
The last thing the WWE wanted was a publicity nightmare so they fined Dylan Miley (aka Lars Sullivan) 100,000 and ordered him to undergo sensitivity training.
Regarding the 100,000 – does Lars even make that in one year ? Also he also did something that Hogan failed to do, he went to wrestlers like Titus O’Neal and personally apologized to them.
Titus posted a statement on Twitter stating that he accepted Lars’s apology. It’s obvious that the WWE was sorry but not sorry about Lars’s racist posts because Mars Wrigley had to force their hand to take action.
As for Lars himself – the timing of his apology deserves a side eye because it’s grandstanding at its finest.
Titus’s tweet
.@LarsSWWE I Applaud you for seeking out myself&Others on the @WWE Roster to not only Sincerely Apologize, But also seek Guidance as to how to move forward in being a Better Human Being than you were 9years ago. Nobody is Perfect Including Thank you @VinceMcMahon 4Taking action!!
